Conscious Eating: A Well Balanced Approach
A lot has changed in the last few months. Dealing with a global pandemic has affected and upended all of our lives. We’re all at home, trying to work, juggle family needs, nourish ourselves, and stay healthy.
Never has there been a better time to focus on stress-reduction, boosting immunity and getting conscious and intentional about how and what we eat (in a compassionate and non-judgmental way of course).

Did you know that people often make over 200 food-related decisions a day, but are only conscious of about 14 of them?
This lack of conscious awareness around food interrupts the powerful mind/body connection that gives us signals every day as to what to eat, when to stop and everything in between.
- Some people lack awareness around food because of stress and overwhelm in other aspects of life.
- Some dissociate due to the emotional pain, conflict and lack of confidence and perceived failures of the past.
- Some will eat mindlessly or quickly just out of habit.
When was the last time you truly savored a meal?
When we allow ourselves the gift of slowing down, listening to our bodies and being truly present for our eating experiences, magic happens.
- It’s how we instinctively know and understand when to stop eating.
- It’s how our brains register pleasure and help aid in the digestive process.
- It’s how we determine for ourselves which foods light us up, make our bodies feel good and understand our appetite cues.
For so many, however, mindful eating feels so out of reach and unattainable.
It can feel like there is no time or that you don’t have the patience to practice healthy eating habits consistently.
I get it. Life is really busy!

So what is conscious eating?
Conscious eating means being intentional and purposeful with what and how you eat. This includes how you meal-prep and plan, understand your appetite cues and honor them, and other mindful and intuitive eating principles and practices.
It also means empowering yourself to be curious about your food triggers, food beliefs and understanding how the media, diet culture and even our food culture influences what and how you eat.
Wouldn’t it feel fantastic to have some support around conscious eating?
