Is the Fab Fit Fun Box Worth It?

by | Oct 25, 2018 | healthy living | 0 comments

Like most modern women, I spend a lot of time online. (Hello! I’m a blogger and virtual health coach!) Being online means seeing lots of ads for all the latest and greatest products. And because I spend a lot of time researching and writing about health, fitness, and wellness, one of the ads I frequently see is for the FabFitFun box.

FabFitFun is a curated subscription box that is delivered quarterly. It is different from other boxes because it contains full-sized products, all from premium purveyors. FabFitFun contents offered for my Editor’s Choice box ranged from accessories to beauty products to jewelry to wellness items.

FabFitFun subscribers have a choice of purchasing on a seasonal subscription– $49.99 per box, quarterly– or an annual subscription– $179.99 for all four boxes. Because I was unsure of the subscription box value for me and my tastes, I opted for the quarterly subscription. Just to be clear: I paid for the box with my very own money.

How do I know I won’t wind up with a box of stuff I don’t want?

The FabFitFun box order process makes sure your box is tailored to you. Different from other subscription boxes I’ve tried, the initial order process is highly detailed. I answered a series of surveys that collected information about my likes and dislikes. It asks questions related to fitness, healthy living, beauty, fashion, and wellness. I was surprised by how thorough the intake questionnaire was. Clearly the FabFitFun people know that doing their homework pays off.

I was a little worried that, given some of the ads I had seen, my box would be filled with makeup. I’m one of those full-grown women who just never understood makeup. But I’m pleased to say that my FabFitFun box was packed with items I will definitely use. That gave me confidence that the thorough customer intake questionnaire was actually consulted and put to use!

How giddy was I when my FabFitFun box hit my doorstep?! Totally giddy! The box itself is colorful and fun. The packaging certainly lives up to the premium promises.

Unboxing my First FabFitFun Box Delivery

What was in the FabFitFun box?

  • Summer & Rose: Brittany Tote in Navy, $54
    • Hello, new beach bag! Or maybe I’ll just carry it to the pool this winter when I wish I was swimming outside. I love the form-factor of the boxy bag. And stripes are always in fashion!
  • CYLO: Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds in White/Rose Gold, $40
    • I have needed some Bluetooth earbuds. And these look comfortable enough that they won’t irritate my tinnitus. Let me be honest. I would never drop $40 on earbuds. So the fact they came in my FabFitFun box means I may finally have discovered ear buds I don’t hate. That’s worth a millionty dollars right there!!
  • GLAMGLOW: Bubblesheet Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask (2-pack), $18
    • Now I know what I’m doing on Friday night.
  • Spongelle: Body Buffer in Freesia Pear, $16
    • I’m fairly scent sensitive, which makes these subscription boxes a bit of a minefield for me. I’m happy to say that my first reaction to this super cute floral shaped body scrubber was to hold it up and take a deep inhale. That tells me it’s made from high-quality ingredients.
  • AHAVA: Mineral Hand Cream, $33
    • Right after I shot the video above I literally opened this tube, squeezed some in my hands, and proceeded to slather my body with this mineral-rich hand cream. The tube is now in my purse so I can take a mini-break of body nourishment even when I’m out and about.
  • Free People: Starry Eyed Travel Eye Mask, $40
    • This vegan leather eye mask has a removable cooling insert. I’m pretty sure hot-flashing women in perimenopause aren’t their target audience, but this product might be just what we can all use at the end of the day.
  • Cuccio Somatology: yogahhhh! Detox Bath, $39.95 (Surprise Me pick #1)
    • I have never found a detox salt bath I don’t love, and this one has a light eucalyptus scent that is going to make it oh, so lovely after my next long run.
  • Crown Brush, 6 piece makeup brush set, $75 (Surprise Me pick #2)
    • This was the only “miss” in the whole box. Like I said, I’m not really a makeup kind of gal. But I have a good friend who loves makeup and all of the doodads that go along with it. And she is going to LOVE that I got these in my box!

Overall, I’m quite pleased with the items I received. I feel like the subscription box value was definitely well above what I paid. There were even a few shampoo and conditioner samples included in the box as bonuses.

What is the actual subscription box value?

One of the things I appreciated about FabFitFun is the little card that was on top of my box when I opened it. It details what’s in the box, item-by-item, and gives the regular retail price of each item. I liked the transparency of the items and their value.

The box I received had a total retail value $289-$315.95. The value range is due to the two customizations offered to the customer. These products allow each person to either choose one item from each of two pairs of products according to her likes. There was also the option to “Surprise Me” and let the FabFitFun people choose the customization products.

I chose the “Surprise Me” option– why not?! It made the whole box an unknown treasure chest to explore. As it turns out, I received the higher-priced items in each of the customizations. That made the total retail price of my box $315.95. Not bad for the $49.95 I spent on it!

Lucky you, though, you can get your first box for less than I paid!
