Here we are, nearly two months in to 2017. Remember all those resolutions regarding fitness and wellness you made just eight short weeks ago? How are they going?
Resolutions Regarding Fitness and Wellness
Let’s think about some of the most popular resolutions regarding fitness and wellness:
Are you getting outside to spend more time in nature? Your body would probably like the fresh air, sunshine (especially in winter), and Vitamin D boost you’d get. If you’re in a frazzled mind state, just putting your feet on the earth or in soft, warm grass can ground you and your nervous system very quickly.
Maybe you made a resolution to socialize more. Developing your social relationships is an important component of your overall wellness. And if you choose to surround yourself with people who support and encourage your goals, you’re more likely to achieve them.
Was stop smoking on your list? I don’t even have to tell you why this is so important, do I? It is likely the singlemost significant contributor to your health conditions. Just think of how much your financial health will be improved by quitting, too. C’mon, now. Snuff out those butts and don’t look back. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, you’re worth it!
Celebrating daily milestones in the form of a gratitude journal is a resolution that is popular. By keeping your focus on all that is good in your life– both big things and very small things– your mind become attuned to look for the positive. This uplifting attitude informs your mental and physical health on a cellular level. Don’t underestimate the power of intentionally celebrating everyday life.
Resolved: ditch the sugary treats. Holy cow, this is so hard, isn’t it!? But if you want to take control of your thyroid and hormonal health, watching your sugar intake is something that really is up to you. Remember: it’s a treat because we have it only once in a while. If it becomes something you have daily, it’s no longer a treat.
Relatedly, who made a resolution to cut back on alcohol consumption? I know what you’re thinking: Coach Karen is a total killjoy. Alcohol mimics sugar when metabolized, so if you’re looking to level out your hormones and moods (and decrease your body fat), keeping an eye on your alcohol consumption is essential.
Finally, I know a lot of you resolved to exercise more.
